His research, centered on Morocco, explores migration dynamics, integration policies, and the effects of international agreements, particularly between sub-Saharan Africa, Morocco, and Europe. He also leads a research lab on migration and integration.

Dr. Aymen Boughanmi is a Tunisian-French academic specializing in political affairs and economic history. He holds a Ph.D. in British and American civilization from Sorbonne University. Dr. Boughanmi’s research encompasses various aspects of political transitions and their socio-economic impacts, including migration dynamics. His publications, such as “The Arab Autumn: The Contradiction between Revolution and Democracy” (2015) and “The People Want: When Democracy is Eroded” (2022), explore themes of populism and its effects on democratic processes, which are closely linked to migration and mobility issues. Beatriz Mesa holds a Ph.D. in Political Sciences from the University of Grenoble Alpes. She was a lecturer at the University Gaston Berger of Saint-Louis (Senegal) from 2020 to 2023 and is currently an Associate Professor at the International University of Rabat (UIR), Morocco. Her research focuses on migration, security, and regional dynamics in the Sahel and Africa.

Daniela Silva is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Integral Human Development Program at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, focusing on the project “Family, Fertility, and Sustainability: Priorities and Expectations of the Portuguese.” With a Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations from the Institute of Political Studies at the Universidade Católica, she has also earned a master’s degree in Governance, Competitiveness, and Public Policies from the University of Aveiro. Daniela’s academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Nova University of Lisbon. Her academic interests span political philosophy, public policies, and family studies. Beyond the academic realm, Daniela actively engages in public discourse, maintaining a monthly opinion column in Jornal Económico since 2020. Through this platform, she contributes valuable insights to broader discussions, bridging the gap between scholarly research and public awareness.

Dr. Hassen Boubakri is a prominent migration expert and Professor of Geography and Migration Studies at the University of Sousse, Tunisia. He also serves as President of the Tunis Center for Migration and Asylum. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Boubakri has contributed significantly to research on migration, asylum, and refugee policies in North Africa. citeturn0search1 He has coordinated various international research projects and participated in policy evaluations for organizations such as the European Commission. Additionally, Dr. Boubakri is involved in several academic networks, including EuroMedMig and the North African Academic Network on Migration (NAMAN). citeturn0search2 His extensive work continues to influence migration studies and policies in the region.

Hocine Labdelaoui is an Algerian sociologist and professor at the University of Algiers 2. He specializes in international migration and its socio-economic impacts. He leads the “Mobility and International Migrations” team at CREAD and is involved in various scholarly and policy-making bodies. Labdelaoui’s research focuses on migration dynamics in Algeria, including brain drain, labor migration, and migration policies. He also participates in media discussions to address public perceptions and stereotypes about migration.

Iván Martín is a Spanish migration expert and Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South. He is also an Associate Researcher at GRITIM, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Martín has been a part-time professor at the European University Institute and a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Economic Migration. His research focuses on labor migration, employment policies, and Euro-Mediterranean relations. He has contributed to studies on refugee labor market integration and participated in the “Migratlantes” Seminar on African migration perspectives.

Dr. Norman Sempijja is an Associate Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Morocco. He earned his Ph.D. in International Politics from Kingston University in 2013. His research encompasses international security, with a particular focus on migration policies and the vulnerabilities of migrants in Africa.

Omar Shaban is the founder and director of PalThink for Strategic Studies, a Gaza-based think tank. He specializes in the political economy of the Middle East and has contributed to various international publications. Shaban holds a Master’s in Development from the Geneva Graduate Institute and has extensive experience in Palestinian reconciliation efforts, EU cooperation, and community development. He is also a co-founder of the Palestinian chapter of Amnesty International and vice-chair of the Asala Association.

Dolores López has a degree in Geography and History (1991) and a PhD in Geography (1997) from our University and a Master of Science in Demography (1993) from the London School of Economics (LSE). She is a full professor of Human Geography at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, she teaches classes in different degrees at this center and at the Faculty of Law, as well as in the Master of Marriage and Family and the Master in Environmental Design and Management of Buildings. . Her research topics fall within family studies (women, fertility, conciliation, old age and youth), mortality and migration. She has carried out research stays at the LSE, the Office of Population Research (Princeton University), and the Center d’Estudis Demographics of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
