Presentation of Mediterranean Dialogue’s 2024 report on informal migration

In Brussels, we hosted two significant events. Firstly a Workshop in the morning, which began with some opening remarks by MEP Juan Fernando López Aguilar of the Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament, and Tasnim Idriss, coordinator of Mediterranean Dialogue.
These were followed by a panel on The State of Informal Migration in the Mediterranean, where loubna El Hassouni, Vice President of Eden Maroc (Morocco), Dr. Mohamed Wounoki, founding member of Algerian Debate Foundation (Algeria), Malak Darwish, Executive Director of the IIDEBATE – International Institute Of Debate (Lebanon), Gonçalo Torres, Students For Liberty Portugal, Karina Kozhakhmet, Researcher of Italian Network for the Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue (Italy) participated.
MEP Cecilia Strada, Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament, delivered the closing remarks.
In the afternoon, there was a second workshop on Informal Migration in the Mediterranean, which started with some welcome words by MEP Nicola Procaccini, Co-Chairman of ECR Group in the European Parliament, and Juan Ángel Soto Gómez, President of Fundación Fortius.This was followed by two panel discussions:
- The State of Informal Migration in the Mediterranean. - The EU and the Migration Challenge. With Beatriz de Leon Cobo, Director of Europe-Sahel Forum Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (Spain), Gonçalo Torres, Students For Liberty Portugal (Portugal), Karina Kozhakhmet, Researcher of Rete Italiana Euromediterranea (Italy). The panel was hosted by Witold de Chevilly, Executive Director of New Direction and co-host of the workshop.
